January - Month of the Yin Water Ox
Jan 5 - Feb 3 is the 12th month of the Chinese Solar Year. So, while January is the first month of the Gregorian Calendar, it is the last month of the Chinese Calendar. It is also the end of the winter, as it transitions to spring. The element of Ox is Earth. Since Earth and Water are in a destructive cycle, January will likely see some changes and/or power struggles.
According to the sexegenary cycle of heavenly stems (elements) and earthly branches (zodiac animals), this is the month of the Yin Water Ox. The traits of the water ox include a sharp and acute mind. It likes to include others in planning and is suited to public service. Ox is a hard worker and detail-oriented. It forms good relationships with Rat, Rabbit, Snake, Rooster, Monkey, Dog, and Pig. So if you have any of these in your chart, you will be courted by this month’s Ox energy. The Water Ox can also be stubborn but their innate sense of responsibility makes them great leaders.
Clash: If you have a Goat in your chart, this is a clash month for you. This means that it’s a time of transition or change. Lessons learned = growth. Depending upon where in your 4 Pillars or Luck Cycle the Goat appears, be aware that on some level, you are likely to experience change.
Combination: If you have Rat in your chart, it will combine with Ox to protect you.
Earth Penalty: Dog and Goat combine with Ox to form a penalty that has potential for misfortune. If you have these in your chart, be mindful of your health and use mindfulness techniques to attenuate stress.
Nobleman: If you have Yang Wood, Yang Earth, or Yang metal in your day or year pillars (born in a year ending with a 4, 8, or 1), Ox is your Nobleman month. There will be helpful people around you…you just have to identify and reach out to them.
