Nobleman Star - What Is It?

The Nobleman Star (Tian Yi Gui Ren) 天乙贵人 in your BaZi chart represents the precious help that arrives when you most need it.. You may be born with a Nobleman (Four Pillars Birth Chart) or the Nobleman Star can appear in your 10-yr Luck Chart, Yearly Chart, Monthly Chart, or Daily Chart. You can even have Nobleman help in a particular time slot.

Some people have an “inborn” Nobleman in their BaZi Birth Chart (aka Four Pillars of Destiny). Those who are seem to be more resilient when difficulties arise. They seem to be able to weather the storms of life, even surviving life-threatening accidents, financial devastation, and other challenges. You know people who seem to have “9 Lives” or who rise above problems that would normally bring anyone else to their knees. They seem “untouchable”…like they are made of Teflon, deflecting blow after blow. These people most often appear to glide through life unscathed by the devastation around them. At the very least, they seem to be the ones who are quite lucky in life, with an abundance of opportunities. They may be the ones who always seem to be in the right place at the right time. It depends on the rest of their chart as to how the Nobleman Star(s) in their birth chart may provide that “helping hand” when needed. You can think of it as a kind of Guardian Angel, as it were.

Even if you aren’t born with Nobleman Star(s) in your Four Pillars of Destiny/Eight Houses, there will be times throughout your life that the helpful Nobleman will appear. Some will experience it in a 10-year cycle. Others will experience a Nobleman Year, Nobleman Months, and Nobleman Days. The only way you will know what your Nobleman Stars are is to refer to know your birth Day and Year Heavenly Stems/Elements. To obtain that information, you can go to any online BaZi generator or BaZi app. There are many that are free. All you need to do is enter your birth information (time, day, month, year). Some generators will automatically adjust for DST but with others you’ll have to know when DST was in effect and adjust BACKWARDS one hour if your were born during DST. This is an example of a BaZi/Four Pillars Chart:

This chart shows 12 boxes of information. The top row reveals the Heavenly Branches (10 Gods). The second row has the Earthly Branches (12 Zodiac animals). The third row reveals the Hidden Branches. The only row you will be using is the top row, and of that row, the only two columns you’ll be using are the Day and Year. Some BaZi practitioners only use the Day/Day Master God, but in my lineage we also include the Year God. It’s entirely up to you, but I’ve found that the Year God seems to be quite accurate.

In this Chart, the two Gods to consider are Yin Wood 乙 (Yi) in the Day Master and Yang Fire 丙 (Bing) in the Year Pillar. While these two elements provide a lot of additional information about this person, we are specifically interested in how they define her potential Noblemen.

Here’s a formula for determining Nobleman Stars:

  • Yang Wood, Yang Earth, & Yang Metal = Ox & Goat

  • Yin Wood & Yin Earth = Rat & Monkey

  • Yang Fire & Yin Fire = Pig & Rooster

  • Yang Water & Yin Water = Rabbit & Snake

  • Yin Metal = Horse & Tiger

Using this reference, you can see that this particular Natal Chart contains a Nobleman Star. Based on the Day Master (Yin Wood), the Monkey in the Earthly Branch of the Year is a Nobleman Star. So this person has an “inborn” Nobleman that will provide opportunities and assistance throughout her life. Now, to be sure, I don’t recommend reckless behavior because you have a Nobleman in your Natal Chart. There’s really no point in testing fate. We should never squander the gifts of our birth. Instead, learn to focus on a life well lived and always remember to be grateful and use your gifts for the betterment of humanity. As you bless others, you will also be blessed.

In addition to this “inborn” Nobleman, whenever the Monkey, Rat (from the Day Master), Pig, or Rooster (from the Year God) appear in the 10-year Luck Pillar, Year, Month, Day, or even Hour of her life, she will enjoy the benefits of an additional Nobleman Star. These are times that she will want to do important things, or look for the opportunity/people that can support a specific need. Again, never approach your Nobleman/Helpful People with your hand out, but be willing to do your part and bring something to the table. Additionally, be grateful for these people and events that help move your life forward with a little more ease.

One last bit of information. You may find that you may enter into a lifelong relationship with your Nobleman, such as a dear friend, life partner, or other important people in your life. I’ve seen time and again when life partners or dear friends happen to also be a Nobleman. It’s a very real phenomenon.

BaZi charts are packed with information about who you are, what your innate gifts are, and what the future holds. Some people seem to move through life effortlessly, while others require more of an effort. But just knowing what kind of energy your chart brings can help you make the right decisions. You can have “all the luck” but squander it. You can also have lots of obstacles, but navigate them with grace and great success. Knowing is power so you can either take advantage of the potential opportunities or make adjustments to navigate whatever obstacles may be in your path. If you KNOW what your innate abilities are, rather than what you think is a good career path, you would be more likely to find success in your life’s work. Ultimately, YOU are the master of your fate, but BaZi can give you the tools you need to have a more productive and successful life.
